"Towed" Lands Another Festival Slot - LA Shorts Fest
Excited to announce our inclusion in the Oscar-qualifying Los Angeles Shorts Fest - September 1-8 at LA Live in downtown Los Angeles.

The New York City Ballet hired District Bureau to mount a large-scale video installation for their 50th Anniversary Celebration.
District Bureau, in partnership with Cool Red Star Pictures, wrapped up filming on its short film, "Towed," in Los Angeles in May, 2015. Written by director Grant Janes and producer Tonya Agurto, the film has already shown in a number of Oscar-qualifying film festivals and has been picked up for distribution by MagnetFilm. We're excited to announce that "Towed" has secured distribution internationally through Germany-based MagnetFilm. Yes, you can make money on a short film (apparently, European air passengers love them).
District Bureau headed to Silicon Valley to see our movie on the big screen. A top-ten fest (and an Oscar-qualifier), Cinequest proved to be a great experience. We met a bunch of other filmmakers and saw some stellar indies.

District Bureau worked with Cool Red Star to promote the film by launching a dedicated Facebook page.
"Someone jacked the generator."
That's not something any first-time producer wants to hear. The Unit Production Manager didn't deliver these words to Tonya Agurto, the film's producer, until after production wrapped - but she wasn't surprised. It was an intense shoot. And even though the crew had two LAPD officers on set, they had been filming night and day in a rough part of Los Angeles where security was tough to maintain.
